An AMP Research creation often leaves one wondering, "Why didn't I think of that?" since it combines elements of both common sense and mechanical marvel. Concepts that seem to be so obvious that they defy explanation. In point of fact, it is the straightforward solutions to complicated issues that have evaded mankind throughout history and are the ones that are the most difficult to come up with. The objective of each and every invention developed by AMP Research is to locate the straightforward and practical answer to a difficult design problem. According to a quote attributed to Albert Einstein, "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler."
Thomas Edison once made the observation that creation is just one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent hard work. But observation comes first, and then comes either theory or practice. Everyone who works at AMP Research has their eyes trained to look at day-to-day living and imagine new goods that can show themselves in the market.
AMP Research is more than simply a center for design, engineering, and product development. This facility in Tustin, California, which is 55,000 square feet in size, uses flexible production and assembly lines to make AMP products for clients in the automobile OEM market as well as consumers in the aftermarket.
As a supplier that sets a higher standard for the manufacturing quality of automotive products that can be found on automobiles and trucks made by Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, and Toyota, AMP Research has been awarded the ISO 9001:2008 certification. This certification recognizes AMP Research as having achieved the higher standard.
AMP Research is an American design and technology business with headquarters in Tustin, California. The firm develops, manufactures, and sells products with the goal of enhancing the functionality and usefulness of automobiles, light trucks, and sport utility vehicles (SUVs). Since it was established in 1980, AMP Research has introduced a wide variety of innovative products to the market. The slogan of the firm, "Innovation In Motion," encapsulates this diverse range of achievements.
AMP Research is a provider of original equipment for original equipment manufacturers such as Ford, GM, Hyundai, Kia, Fiat, Chrysler, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Suzuki, and Mercedes-Benz. They produce one-of-a-kind accessories for automobiles and trucks. AMP Research is responsible for the design, manufacturing, and direct marketing of a number of automotive accessory items. These products include the AMP Research PowerStepTM, BedStepTM, BedXTender HDTM, and Alloy Fuel Doors.
Every AMP Research product has been conceived of, engineered, and developed by Horst Leitner, the company's visionary founder and owner, from the industry-leading four-stroke ATK motocross and off-road motorcycles of the 1980s that anticipated today's dominant four-stroke machines to the one-of-a-kind AMP Research and Mercedes-Benz full-suspension bicycles of the 1990s to today's pickup truck and SUV accessories. Leitner was born in a small town close to Salzburg in Austria in 1942. He went on to become a top-ranked off-road motorcycle racer, competing in the FIM Motocross World Championships in Europe, winning four gold medals in the challenging International Six Days Trial, and winning the Austrian National Motocross Championships. Leitner was also the first person to win the Austrian National Motocross Championships.
After graduating from Graz University in Austria with a degree in engineering, Leitner took on the difficult task of enhancing the performance of the suspension on the bikes he raced. His work led to the creation of the chain-torque eliminators known as the A-Trak and the AMP-Link, both of which significantly enhanced the ride quality, handling, and performance of on-road and off-road motorcycles, as well as ATVs in the future.
In the year 1998, AMP Research shifted its major attention to the field of automobile research. The AMP Research Bed X-TenderTM for pickup trucks is a construction made of tubular aluminum and glass-reinforced resin connectors. This construction extends the cargo area of the bed over the folded-down tailgate, allowing owners to fully utilize the space created when the tailgate is in the horizontal positions. When the gate is open, the AMP Research Bed X-TenderTM may be rotated forward to reveal segregated storage space; alternatively, it can be removed to facilitate the transport of bigger freight items. The AMP Research Moto X-Tender® was first made available to the public in 2009. It has a one-of-a-kind slant-back design that provides more space in tiny pickup trucks for transporting longer goods such as motorcycles, ATVs, and other longer items. BedXTender HD is a tailgate extender and cargo enclosure that was first released by Amp Research in 2011. It had a freshly redesigned and enhanced design over its predecessor. With its innovative rounded-rectangle tubes and newly developed torque-resistant composite uprights, this product is the strongest and most durable one ever manufactured.
An electric motor and a proprietary, kinematically-engineered connection are used in the manufacturing of the AMP PowerStepTM, which is a combination running board and retractable truck step. When a door of any vehicle is opened, the AMP PowerStepTM stretches outward and then retracts back under the car when the doors are closed. This provides more ground clearance while also reducing the amount of aerodynamic drag. By the year 2010, more than 30,000 Power Step systems had been marketed. These systems were offered both as line-installed OEM components on Ford and GM cars as well as via multi-step distribution in the automotive aftermarket under the brand name AMP Research.
BedStepTM is a clever retractable truck step that is mounted to the bumper/frame attachments at the rear corner of the vehicle. It can be extended down with the flip of a toe to facilitate climbing up into or down from the pickup bed, and it retracts under the rear bumper, nearly out of sight, after use. Leitner invented BedStepTM to make it easier to climb into the bed of a pickup. Midway through the year 2011, AMP Research started distributing the new BedStep2TM side-access stairs for pickup truck beds. These steps install on either side, immediately behind the cab of the vehicle. allowing for access to toolboxes, equipment, and goods in the bed of the vehicle in a manner that is quicker, simpler, and safer.
